Let’s design a better world.
I believe in the power of human- soul- earth-centered design to rethink systems and our own lives to leave the planet better than we found it.
I am a design director, gender educator, writer and filmmaker — and at the heart of everything I do is finding soul and meaning in every story.
I am currently am a design director and writer at IDEO, and part of the Inclusive Design Collective and diversity leadership team. Before IDEO, I was an advertising copywriter and creative director for 13 years. And I’ve been educating about gender my entire life — since skinned knees and bucked teeth. At my core is strategic communications. Inclusion. And jokes.
I work with people and organizations who want to ask themselves “who are we?” and then I help guide them through the process of finding themselves through story, soul, and invitation.
You’re invited.
They all day.
I have visited many places — organizations, tech companies, schools, libraries, parent groups, design departments, school kids — to teach about gender. Places like SXSW, Microsoft Design Week, Creative Mornings, etc. using my book “How to They/Them” as a teaching tool designed to use play and humor during tough conversations.
“We were delighted by the great turnout and great questions. Stuart has an amazing way of sharing complex information with warmth, humor, and (even) a little sparkle — so welcome in these times.”
